Wedding update

Invites: Minted.com (first row), Wedding Paper Divas (second and third row)
Mercury votive: Michaels
Agenda: MyAgenda by MomAgenda here
Moleskine: here

Wedding planning is seriously underway now that we've entered 2014. There are about 8 months left until the big day, and I have to say I have been enjoying every minute of the wedding planning process. But I have to say the only reason why I've been staying on top of things and organized is because of my two holy grail wedding planning items. My agenda and my moleskin.

The agenda keeps all my tasks, schedules and to-do lists broken down by the month in check. And the Moleskine is the perfect item to bring all of my ideas and thoughts together in one place. Capturing all of my ideas and inspirations for a later date. Without these two, I think I'd be running around aimlessly.

Wedding items on my mind currently have been invites. There are just so many possibilities, all beautifully created and reasonably priced. But alas I think the fiance has something more particular in mind and so I have left it up to him to create our invites. It is our wedding after all, something I need to remember in this whole planning process.

My obsession with gold (and white for that matter) has grown now that I've entered the wedding planning process, and I find myself asking frequently ' does that come in gold?'. One way to get my gold fix in to the decor has been through these gold mercury glass votives from Micheals. Mercury glass is always a bit more on the pricier side, but I feel like some things are just worth it. And I find that gold brings a bit more depth and texture to the tables.

Hopefully my next post will be an actual outfit post, or something along those lines. But right now my life has basically been all wedding, all the time.

Hello again // Updates

It has been ages since I've posted. The last entry I wrote was during the summer time and now there's snow on the ground outside and so close to Christmas already. But I've been missing my little corner of the internet so figured it was time for an update.

Since my last post I have changed jobs yet again, but this time I absolutely love and adore it so it's all worked out for the best. The only downside is that I'll be working New Years Eve and probably every NYE for the foreseeable future, but, that can be something my future self deals with.

Wedding planning is fully under way now. I have the date (Friday Oct 17, 2014), the venue, the photographer, DJ, officiant and most importantly ... the dress! It happened last weekend exactly to the day and I am in love. I was worried I wouldn't make the right decision, or find the right dress, but I have never been more sure or confident about my choice. And now I am so glad I can stop looking. Like the fiance, I have it.

And now I'm just preparing for the upcoming Holiday's. One of my favourite time of year.

June and July recap

Another little video showing (slightly) what I've been up to lately. I think I'm getting better at this, maybe. Maybe not. Either way, it's a nice little keepsake for future me.

Wilfred Free and Engaged

Dress: Aritzia (here)
Sandals: Browns (here)

This dress from Aritzia hugs you at all the right places and shows just a little bit of skin on the backside which is a fun little addition. I ordered this online recently because I could never find my size in stock quick enough. The sales people mentioned it was one of their fastest selling items right now and I can definitely see why.

In other exciting life news - I'm engaged! It happened 2 weekends ago on a Saturday just like today and it's been a whirlwind ever since of family visits, dinners out with friends and even a venue visit which we did today. My mind is filling up with a hundred plus details that I'd love, but I'm having a tough time finding that perfect venue and date to match. This should be interesting. Part of the reason why I've been so MIA lately. But hopefully as things start to move forward (fingers crossed), I'll be able to maybe document some major moments.

Aritzia haul

Top and Shorts: Aritzia (herehere and here)

As I mentioned in my last post I purchased a couple of items from Aritzia's private sale that just finished up. The summer sale is now open to the public and I highly recommend checking it out, they're not amazing discounts but a sale is a sale and considering Aritzia rarely has them, i'm always in favour of stocking up on some items you may have had your eye on in the past.

For me, this purchase was all about silky, flowy and feminine shorts, a wardrobe must have that I have personally been missing. I picked out two which were both reasonably priced. The dade shorts which i'm wearing was everything I imagined it to be, although maybe a little bit shorter than I'm used to. They're delicate, soft and very feminine. Reminds me of lingerie but wearable in public for sure.

The second pair of shorts I picked up were the Roxie shorts which I was extremely disappointed in seeing as they're completely see through! Maybe it's the colour that I chose, but I was not expecting that flimsy or sheer of a material. Unfortunate seeing I was really looking forward to wearing them. I'm considering either wearing them as pajama bottoms (which they could pass for) or braving them out in public with nude underwear. I haven't made up my mind yet. I should mention that all sale items are final sale (damn).

My last purchase was this standard white t-shirt with cut outs, I can never resist white shirts and I like that the detailing is a little bit different. I would have preferred the short sleeves to taper in a bit more, but nothing a roll here and there can't fix.

Overall a good mini haul - and a great cottage get away this weekend. Happy belated birthday Canada.

Recent purchases and swim wear

Swim wear: Victoria's Secret (here)
Shorts: Aritzia (here and here)

A quick post before I head off to the cottage for the Canada Day long weekend. In preparation for this little trip there were a couple of items I knew I just needed to purchase, and for the sake of summer as well.

New bikini's was top of my list. The last time I bought a bathing suite was in first year university give or take but seeing as I actually lost that one some how, the one I usually end up wearing was the bikini I bought back in high school. Yes, you read right, high school. And many a things have changed since then (body included) so it was about time that I bought something new.

I chose Victoria's Secret since they have more selection and are actually better priced and have better styles than your regular Bikini Village and others. I wanted one that could be worn as both a bandeau and a halter but with support and these (Beach Sexy Push up Bandeau) were perfect. They come in a million + 1 colours which helps, but the best part is that the band is adjustable with 3 slots which means even I (the girl who has the smallest rib cage) can wear it as a bandeau and have it actually stay up. And for the days where you don't feel like wearing it as a bandeau, they come with straps that you can attach on and tie as a bikini top.

My second purchase was from the Aritzia private sale that just passed, they now have their summer sale to the public happening. I chose a couple of shorts, but I'll go into a complete review of these in my next post as one was sadly a disappointing purchase.

But now it's time for the cottage. Happy Canada's Day to all my fellow Canadians!

Chiffon-like

Top: Zara (here)
Skirt: Club Monaco
Shoes: Nine West

This skirt has served me well over the last couple of years, and it was a sale item of all things. I love it when quality pieces actually make it through the test of time. Makes me feel so good about my purchase.

Speaking of purchases, I've been horrible and doing a lot of late night online shopping. Because of it I have 3 packages on its way to me as we speak. I am so excited. But again, they were all necessity items, honestly.

The countdown to the Canada day long weekend is on. I just need to get through one more work day, that is all and then i'll be basking in the (hopefully) cottage sunlight. I am ready for these casper arms and legs to disappear.
