To Chambray or not

It's funny that I sit down to write this post right after I wore (and posted) a semi chambray outfit yesterday. But to be fair, I don't really consider that to be like the traditional chambray shirt any ways.

When I first noticed stores stocking jean shirt after jean shirt a couple of years ago, I wasn't really sure how I felt about it. Actually no, to be fair I knew I didn't like it and had filed it under my 'not to follow trends'. However, as with all trends, it started to grow on me the more and more I saw it on people. And so came the day where I looked at myself and asked, should I jump on board? Should I spend the money and do it?

A little side note on myself, I try (and usually sometimes fail) to pick and choose trends that will have the most long lasting staying power that way I'm not wasting my money on items that I'll wear for one season and then be left to hang at the back of the closet or in my next pile of to-donate clothes.

Long story short. I decided to just give it a-go (better late than never right?) and ended up ordering this shirt from J.Crew Factory (on sale might I add) only to be severely disappointed when the package finally arrived at my door. The colour is just all wrong, the length and look I'm not a fan of, and the material is just not as soft as I would have hoped. Which basically means, I am returning it and potentially saying goodbye forever to the chambray shirt. Maybe it's just not for me. There are some trends that just don't fit, and even though I can't entirely sum up in words what my supposed style is, I'm going to give it a go and say that a jean shirt just isn't it.

  1. Aw that's a bummer :[ I hope you can get your money back and splurge on something that you'll love instead! I've seen some at H&M that have a very soft feel which is a big part of the reason those shirts are appealing.

    1. I should definitely check out H&M, I figured J.Crew would have better material but guess I was wrong!
